Job summary

Rory Mackie & Associates is seeking a Graduate Software Engineer to join a small, collaborative systems development team working on web-based ERP platforms and websites. The role offers mentorship and exposure to the full development lifecycle, including feature development, bug fixes, code maintenance, and reviews.

Ideal candidates will hold a related bachelor’s degree and have a solid foundation in software development, OO concepts, and familiarity with Git, HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Systems.
• Strong foundation in software development principles.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge of databases, backend development, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Exposure to Ruby on Rails is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web-based applications and platforms.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of ERP systems and websites.
• Work alongside senior software developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Participate in feature development, bug fixes, system improvements, and code maintenance.
• Assist with reviewing and improving code quality through code reviews.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and apply analytical problem-solving skills to resolve challenges.
• Learn and apply software development best practices, tools, and methodologies.
• Collaborate effectively with team members while progressively taking ownership of assigned tasks.
