Job summary

Codehesion is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to research, design, and the writing of new software solutions within a collaborative project team. This role requires a minimum of 0–6 months of relevant development experience and provides mentorship from the Head of Project Management and a team lead.

You will participate in planning, daily stand-ups, and code reviews, while applying industry best practices to build stable applications and integrate with third-party systems.

Qualifications

• Proficient in one technology, understand REST APIs and Git workflows.
• Write tests in their technology and implement features with clear requirements under minimal supervision.
• Debug skills and ability to review their own work.

Responsibilities

• Engage in internal feedback and planning sessions and provide input.
• Understand the function of a story point and task weighting in planning sessions.
• Manage workload effectively within the project frame.
• Work with the Project Management Office to understand project requirements.
• Participate in daily stand-ups and escalate issues timely.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager/Project Administrator to deliver high-quality work within the timeframe.
• Maintain a velocity average of 50, showing steady delivery growth.
• Understand and implement integration of software with third-party systems and Codehesion software.

Job description

As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for the research, design and writing of new software solutions as part of a team on a project. Software knowledge based on client requirements varies across the teams, which offers scope for technical variety and growth in this role.

This role will report to the Head of Project Management and rely on their Stream/Team Lead for technical guidance and mentorship. You will be required to have a minimum of 0-6 months of relevant development experience.

WITHIN THE PROJECT TEAM

• The employee engages in internal feedback and planning sessions – participates and gives feedback.
• Within the planning sessions, employee understands the function of a story point & weighing of tasks.
• Within the frame of the project, the employee is able to manage their workload effectively.
• Employee works well with team and Project Management Office to gain an understanding of project requirements.
• The employee engages and contributes to daily stand-ups & timely escalates any issues.
• The employee works to the best of their ability with the Project Manager/Project Administrator on their team to ensure that the project produced is of high quality within the specific timeframe.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

• The employee is expected to be proficient in one technology, understand REST APIs and Git workflows, be comfortable using Git commands, write tests in their technology, implement features with clear requirements under minimal supervision, and apply basic debugging skills.
• The employee is expected to maintain a velocity average of 50, reflecting steady contribution and growing consistency in delivery.
• The employee is able to understand the basic components of a system.
• The employee is able to learn to work with industry best practices to enable stable applications.
• The employee is able to understand and implement the integration of software with third party systems and/or software written by Codehesion.
• Assist in the implementation of business processes (rules) in software according to client requirements.
• Employee asks for help and gets through blockers quickly.
• Code review - Employee is able to assist in the reviewing of colleagues work when necessary.
• Employee is able to apply and understand company tech stacks applicable to your projects.
• The employee is able to debug and review their own work.
