Job summary

Marvel Placement Consultants is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a remote/site-based mining operation near Johannesburg. The role requires 25 years in QS, exposure to mining or mineral processing, and strong cost-control capabilities.

You will manage estimates, budgets, procurements and commercial risks across the project lifecycle. Travel will be required to project sites, with extensive interaction with engineers, procurement and finance teams to ensure accurate cost reporting and final

Qualifications

• Diploma/BSc/BTech/BCom in Quantity Surveying or related qualification
• 25 years experience in Quantity Surveying
• Mining/industrial or infrastructure project experience preferred
• Proficient in Excel and QS software
• Knowledge of cost control, budgeting and forecasting
• Experience with variations, claims and change orders
• Contract administration and commercial management experience
• Willingness to travel and work on a remote, site-based mining operation

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets and cost plans.
• Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities and perform site measurements.
• Verify contractor progress and payment claims.
• Assist with monthly valuations, payment certificates and cost reports.
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow projections.
• Evaluate variations, claims and additional works.
• Identify potential cost overruns and commercial risks.
• Support final accounts and maintain cost-control records.
• Maintain project documentation and commercial records.
• Provide QS and commercial input into project planning and decisions.
• Assist with procurement and tender evaluations and supplier performance.
