Job summary

RPO Recruitment is seeking a motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their client in Sandton. The role focuses on assisting with cost estimates, bills of quantities, tender documentation, and cost control across construction projects.

The ideal candidate has a relevant qualification in Building or Quantity Surveying, 3–4 years of experience, strong numeracy, Excel proficiency, and good communication. You will work in a professional team to meet project deadlines and maintain accurate cost

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Building or Quantity Surveying.
• 3–4 years’ relevant working experience in quantity surveying.
• Experience within a professional quantity surveying firm or consulting environment.
• Sound understanding of construction cost management and quantity surveying principles.
• Knowledge of bills of quantities, cost estimates, tender documentation and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement processes and project cost control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and relevant quantity surveying software.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a professional team and meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, budgets and bills of quantities.
• Support the preparation and evaluation of tender documentation.
• Assist with measuring and quantifying construction work.
• Obtain, assess and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Assist with cost monitoring, financial reporting and project cost control.
• Support the preparation and assessment of interim payment valuations.
• Assist with the assessment of variations and final accounts.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and cost records.
• Provide quantity surveying support throughout the various stages of construction projects.
