Job summary

Old Mutual Limited is seeking a Junior Quantitative Analyst to join the Symmetry investment team in Pinelands. This role focuses on developing and implementing complex quantitative models and analytical strategies across local and global capital markets.

You will maintain quant models, assist in holdings analysis, build automated reporting tools, and contribute to portfolio construction through data-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • Relevant graduate qualification (BCom, BSc, B.Bus.Sci).
  • Preferably 3–5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong quantitative skills and programming experience in an investment setting.
  • Understanding of financial analysis and modelling.
  • Excellent communication in English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve the quant elements of the existing models and processes.
  • Assist with fund manager style and holdings analysis.
  • Build and maintain quant-based analysis tools per asset class with auto reporting mechanisms.
  • Build and maintain an optimisation workspace that any product/solution can use as a starting point for portfolio construction.
  • Assist with data mining and analysis for strategic value add and thought leadership.
  • Produce portfolio review analyses for deeper reflection on solutions (POD analysis, risk decomposition, holdings correlation).
  • Collection and maintenance of relevant strategy data and data flow to the data team.
