Job summary

AOSIS is seeking a Junior Production Editor to join our Durbanville publishing team. You will support the production process from manuscript acceptance through publication, coordinating activities and ensuring high-quality outputs.

The role suits a recent graduate or early-career editor who thrives on structured workflows and attention to detail. You will liaise with authors and production partners, perform quality checks on PDFs, XML, HTML and EPUB outputs, and help maintain accurate metadata

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in publishing or related field.
• 0–2 years in publishing or editorial coordination.
• Strong proofreading and formatting skills.
• Familiarity with workflow management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate manuscripts through copyediting, typesetting, proofreading and publication.
• Maintain publication schedules and monitor progress against deadlines.
• Communicate with authors, editors, proofreaders, typesetters and production partners.
• Track manuscripts and milestones using workflow systems.
• Verify publication metadata for completeness and accuracy.
