Job summary

Zecutive Consultants is seeking a qualified engineer to assist in the design, development and implementation of energy project solutions for industrial, commercial and mining clients.

You will interpret energy consumption reports, propose interventions, and develop PFD/P&ID plans using Visio. The role includes site visits, on-site supervision, contractor administration and project management services to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc Eng / BEng / BTech Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• Proficiency in Afrikaans and English required for bilingual meetings.
• Valid driver’s license, own transport and valid passport.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, including mining environments.

Job description

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assist in the design, development and implementation of energy project solutions for industrial, commercial and mining clients.
• Interpret energy consumption analysis reports, identify optimization that need to be monitored, report on results.
• Propose interventions based on results.
• Development of PFD and P&ID plans using Visio software.
• Development of site layout plans.
• Carrying out site visits/audits on regular intervals.
• The operation, maintenance and fault finding of existing project infrastructure to ensure system functionality and project performance.
• Contractor administration and supervision on site.
• Management of the installation and commissioning of new equipment on site.
• Quality assurance plan development and implementation.
• Operational and maintenance procedure development based on the unique features of each project.
• Project management services for the execution of approved projects and monitoring of the performance thereof post implementation. Assist with the management of site activities and overseeing subcontractors where necessary.
• Ensure that health and safety procedures and standards are implemented and maintained.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the following engineering activities:

• Planning/scheduling and design.
• Development/design/specify material and equipment/piping.
• Compilation of cost estimations, proposals, tendering documentation and vendor selection.
• Site inspections and supervision, also in data centre or industrial sites (highly recommended)
• Contractor administration.
• Commissioning and operation of equipment.
• Project coordination and administration.

It will be expected from the successful candidate to:

• Willingness to travel to sites within South Africa and occasionally abroad.

• Reporting to the appointed Business Unit Manager and Project Manager as well as the Client’s Representative.

Minimum requirements are:

• BSc Eng / BEng or BTech Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree or higher
• Primary business written and spoken language will be English. Proficiency in Afrikaans essential to effectively communicate in bilingual meetings
• Valid driver’s license, own transport and valid passport.
• Willing and able to travel to project sites, work in mining environments.
• Medically fit to work on site and/or underground.

Additional preferred requirements are:

• 1-3+ years’ experience in an energy management engineering environment
• Experience in a project management capacity will be beneficial.
• Experience in energy management analysis and optimization highly recommended
• Experience with industrial sites’ requirements and regulations
• Experience in new business development and sound client relationship building skills recommended
• Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation equipment application to monitor site parameters.
• People and business interfacing experience.
• Strong innovative and solution finding attitude.

Remuneration:

Market related - negotiable depending on qualifications and experience
