Introduction
Logistics and Maritime Solutions invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the permanent position of Junior Operations Superintendent, based in Port Elizabeth.
1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attending to customs, port and immigration formalities on behalf of the vessel.
- Keeping principals and suppliers updated on the progress of the vessel.
- Formulate estimated disbursements and finalising the disbursement after the departure of vessels.
- General ships husbandry requirements such as hotel and transport bookings for crew changes and coordinating the supply/delivery of the necessary stores and provisions for vessels.
- Ensuring a smooth turnaround of vessels and reporting on cargo operations
- Assisting with following up on invoices from suppliers and service providers
- Ensuring all relevant requirements are met such as ISPS clearance and Free Pratique
- Comply with ISO Standards and certification
- Coordinating with operations teams and contractors regarding deliveries.
- Preparing and issuing computed invoices to clients.
- Collecting ocean freight for both import and export shipments and releasing export bills.
- Compiling cargo dues and processing trans-shipment orders.
- Releasing cargo in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensuring all applicable charges are received and accounted for.
- Preparing manifests by capturing bills onto the principal’s system.
- Compiling month-end estimates for finance reporting purposes.
- Attending to account-related and disbursement queries.
- Assisting with workload overflow from other desks as required.
1. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Relevant industry-related training and/or a qualification in the maritime, logistics, or shipping field.
- ICS Qualifications would be advantageous
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience within the shipping or maritime industry.

- Ability to identify and execute on the needs and requirements of the client
- Good organisational skills
- Able to work accurately and timeously
- Works according to standard operating procedures including ISO
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours
