Job summary

Grindrod, based in Cape Town, seeks a Junior Operations Superintendent to manage customs, port formalities and vessel coordination in a permanent capacity. The role involves handling disbursements, supplier liaison, and ensuring ISO standards are met.

The successful candidate will support turnarounds, cargo operations, invoicing, and cargo release processes, with responsibilities expanding to month-end finance reporting and workload coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Relevant maritime or logistics qualification.
• ICS qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum one year experience in shipping or maritime.

Responsibilities

• Attend to customs, port and immigration formalities on behalf of the vessel.
• Keep principals and suppliers updated on vessel progress.
• Formulate and finalise disbursement estimates after vessel departure.
• Coordinate hotel, transport, stores and provisions for crew changes.
• Ensure smooth vessel turnaround and report cargo operations.
• Assist with follow-up of invoices from suppliers and service providers.
• Ensure ISPS clearance and Free Pratique requirements are met.
• Coordinate with operations teams and contractors for deliveries.
• Prepare and issue computed invoices to clients.
