Job summary

Datafin IT Recruitment is seeking a Junior IT Technician to provide internal IT support, and assist with hardware assembly, packaging and preparation for devices used in their products. You will be the first point of contact for IT issues and help with setup, configuration and documentation.

The role covers basic troubleshooting, hardware repairs, inventory management, and ensuring security policies and remote support procedures are followed.

Job description

ENVIRONMENT:

A start-up software company is looking for a Junior IT Technician who will provide technical support for internal IT-related matters and duties, including the careful assembly, packaging, and preparation of hardware devices used in their products.

DUTIES:

• Serving as the first point of contact for IT support within the organisation
• Assist with setting up, network configuration, and hardware installation for packhouse systems, ensuring all deployments are secure and well-documented
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting basic software and hardware issues
• Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components
• Supporting people whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices
• Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly
• Courier/Collect/Deliver hardware, and devices to customers, or suppliers
• Maintain hardware inventory list, and keep the storeroom updated, and clean
• Manage 3D printer output
• Fix minor robot repairs
• Manage user access and permissions across platforms (e.g., Cledara, Bitwarden) to ensure compliance with internal security policies
• Perform user onboarding and offboarding tasks, including credential management, MFA setup, and secure data transfer protocols
• Maintain documentation for internal audits and ensure adherence to established IT security standards, including remote support procedures
• Troubleshooting connectivity issues

REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Qualifications

• Basic experience in IT support or IT technician roles

Job Related Experience

• Thy prefers candidates who have worked in similar roles such as IT Help Desk, IT Support and related positions. Should have a basic understanding of mobile and desktop operating systems, with a willingness to learn more advanced aspects on the job.
• IT Technicians will assist with basic networking configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance. Experience with computer and network security, including firewalls, antivirus software and malware protection will be an advantage.
• The Junior IT Technician will need to provide technical support remotely and need to be familiar with virtual network solutions. They also need to have exceptional communication skills as the role includes dealing with internal customers by providing customer support.
