Job summary

Marvel Placement Consultants is seeking an Engineering Project Support role based in Gauteng to assist in planning, coordination and execution of construction and mining projects. You will monitor progress, carry out site inspections and liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years' relevant experience, a Mechanical Engineering degree and proficiency in drawings, MS Excel and engineering software.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years' experience in construction/mining.
• Bachelor's degree or BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Exposure to construction/mining projects, infrastructure, plant or industrial projects.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specs and project docs.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Senior Engineers with planning, coordination and execution of construction and mining projects.
• Monitor progress and ensure activities align with schedules, specs and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and report on progress, issues and risks.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers and site personnel for efficient delivery.
• Review drawings, specifications and docs to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Support procurement activities, including material requisitions, supplier coordination and expediting deliveries.
• Assist with scheduling, progress reporting, budgeting and cost monitoring.
• Participate in construction, installation, commissioning and handover activities.
• Conduct frequent site visits to project operations in Nigeria, providing on-site engineering support.
• Ensure work complies with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Identify technical challenges and propose practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, site reports and meeting minutes.
• Attend project meetings and provide engineering support to multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation throughout the lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency, quality and performance.
• Build technical knowledge through mentorship, site exposure and active involvement.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2–5 years' experience within the construction and/or mining industry.
• Bachelor's Degree or BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Exposure to construction projects, mining operations, infrastructure projects, plant construction, or industrial projects.
• Understanding of construction methodologies, project execution, and engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, MS Project, or similar engineering software will be advantageous.
• Valid passport with a willingness to travel frequently to Nigeria, and work on remote construction and mining project sites.
