Job summary

DP World in East London is seeking a project-support engineer to help design, implement, stabilize and continuously improve logistics processes and systems. The role focuses on drafting functional specifications, managing design implementations, and providing training as part of solution delivery.

Qualifications

• B.Eng. / B.Sc. in Industrial- or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong background in theory and techniques in a specialised field and project management.

Responsibilities

• Draft system functional specifications.
• Implement design through project management.
• Provide training as part of solution implementation.
• Monitor effectiveness of the solution against SLA with the customer.
• Rectify deviations from SLA due to design-related issues.
• Support operations in deviations from SLA due to operations.
• Pursue continuous improvement of the solution and its execution efficiency.
• Execute operational responsibilities as required by customer (e.g. engineering changes, special projects).
• Control expenditures within the project budget.

Job description

Provide support to operational support to the operational departments, this includes managing projects to design, implement, stabilize and continuously improve the logistic processes and system.

Key Performance Areas

• System Functional Specifications drafting.
• Implementation of design through project management.
• Supporting necessary training as part of solution implementation
• Processes and structures in place to monitor the effectiveness of the implemented solution against the Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the customer.
• Processes and structures in place to rectify any deviation from SLA due to design related issues.
• Support operational department with rectification of deviation from SLA due to operations related issues.
• Processes and structures in place to continuously utilise opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the solution and the efficiency with which it is executed.
• Executing operational responsibilities as required by customer (e.g. Engineering changes, special projects, etc.).
• Control expenditures within limitations of project budget.

Qualifications Required

• B.Eng. / B.Sc. in Industrial-, or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience and Skills Required

• Professional knowledge of theory and techniques in a specialised field, or knowledge of several fields acquired through tertiary education and /or considerable experience.
• MS Excel, MSWord and MS PowerPoint experience is a pre-requisite.
• Advanced Access, Excel, Visio, MS Project experience will be an advantage.
