Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Junior Energy Trader Analyst in Paarl to support senior traders with market research, data analysis, and analytical support for decisions. The role offers exposure to energy markets and financial trading in a fast-paced environment.

You will analyze prices, monitor markets, and help develop trading strategies while learning from experienced professionals on-site in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is required.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities with data interpretation.
• Proficiency in Excel and quick adaptability to new tools.
• Interest in energy markets and risk management; team player.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior traders in monitoring energy markets and opportunities.
• Perform fundamental and technical analysis of energy prices and demand.
• Prepare market reports, daily summaries, and performance analyses.
• Support development and back-testing of trading strategies.
• Track trading positions and P&L with accuracy.
• Maintain market data databases and interfaces with teams.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external participants.
• Ensure adherence to trading policies and procedures.
