Job summary

Virago Recruitment is assisting a growing civil engineering practice in Port Elizabeth to recruit a Junior Civil / Structural Engineer with 6–8 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on structural design and project execution from inception to completion, with exposure to residential, commercial and industrial developments.

Qualifications

• BEng Civil Engineering or BSc Civil Engineering degree.
• 6–8 years’ relevant engineering experience.
• Strong focus in Structural Engineering / Structural Design.
• Experience managing and running projects independently.
• Experience across residential, commercial and industrial projects.
• Interpreting drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• ECSA registration or progress towards registration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate assigned projects from design to completion.
• Perform structural design, analysis and calculations.
• Prepare and review drawings, reports and specifications.
• Ensure projects meet timelines, budgets and quality standards.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and consultants.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support.
• Identify and resolve design challenges.
• Coordinate deliverables and ensure compliance with standards.
• Assist with project planning, cost considerations and resources.
• Take ownership of projects from inception to execution.
