Job summary

The Working Earth in Durban North is seeking a diligent junior bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial operations. You will capture and process bank statements in Sage Pastel, perform reconciliations, and help prepare income statements and VAT reports.

You\'ll maintain client filing systems, follow up on documentation, compile management reports for senior sign-off, and provide bookkeeping and tax support alongside general admin duties.

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards an Accounting or Tax qualification.
• 1–2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or tax experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Capture and process bank statements on Sage Pastel.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare income statements and VAT reports.
• Process monthly journals as required.
• Compile management reports for review and sign-off by senior accounting staff.
• Maintain and update client filing systems and documentation.
• Follow up on outstanding client information and documentation.
• Keep daily progress reports and other relevant records up to date.
• Provide professional bookkeeping and tax-related support services.
• Assist with general administrative duties as required.
