Job summary

The Recruitment Pig is seeking an experienced bookkeeper to run a smooth financial department and keep company accounts accurate and audit-ready. You will receive strong operational support while handling the full general ledger, reconciliations, supplier and customer accounts, payroll, and tax submissions.

Based in South Africa, the role requires a matric with accounting or mathematics, a bookkeeping diploma/certificate, and at least five years of hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• Matric with accounting or maths as main subject.
• Diploma/certificate in Bookkeeping/Accounting.
• Min five years hands-on bookkeeping experience.
• Experience preparing files for external audits.
• Proficiency with Sage Pastel or Xero.

Responsibilities

• Keep the full general ledger up to date using modern accounting software.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and cash records monthly.
• Manage supplier accounts and prepare regular payment runs on time.
• Track customer accounts and collect outstanding payments.
• Handle monthly staff payroll and calculate standard employee tax figures.
• Submit monthly SARS tax returns like VAT201 and EMP201.
• Prepare month-end trial balances and balance sheets for external auditors.

• Prepare clear month-end trial balances and balance sheets for external auditors.

What You Need to Apply

• Matric certificate with accounting or mathematics as a main subject.

• Diploma or certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related field.

• At least five years of solid hands‑on experience in bookkeeping.

• Proven ability to prepare accurate files ready for annual external audits.

• Good experience with Sage Pastel, Xero, or similar accounting computer software.

• Practical knowledge of monthly SARS tax submissions and standard VAT returns.

• A positive attitude, great team spirit, and strong willingness to learn.
