Job summary

HyperionDev is seeking a Junior Bookkeeper to join our Finance Department in Cape Town. You will help keep the multi-currency finance system accurate and up to date to support management accounts and statutory filings.

You’ll handle accounts receivable and payable, VAT, and bank transactions, working closely with colleagues across the business. This full-time, remote-friendly role requires a weekly office presence in Cape Town and offers opportunities to enrol in our Coding Bootcamps.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
• Based in Cape Town

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely capturing of supplier invoices in Xero
• Accurate capturing of VAT for all transactions
• Cost and department code allocation
• Liaising with departments for invoice approvals
• Create payment schedules
• Process and reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions
• Review and ensure accurate processing of customer invoices
• Allocate customer receipts to invoices
• Periodically review accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices
• Review proposed customer refunds
• Maintain supplier and customer information in Xero
• Monitor finance mailboxes for invoices and payments
• Process employee expense reimbursements
• Maintain filing system of accounting data
• Support month-end close
• Assist with annual audit packs
• Assist with ad-hoc tasks and projects
