Job summary

Ubuntu RM in Johannesburg is seeking a Junior Bookkeeper to join the finance team. The role supports day-to-day bookkeeping up to trial balance, bank and supplier invoice processing, and stock control duties within a manufacturing environment.

You will work under supervision with growth potential into a more senior role; matric is essential and a bookkeeping qualification is advantageous, with experience in Sage Pastel being beneficial.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience in a manufacturing/ FMCG environment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and good reconciliation skills.
• Ability to work under supervision with potential for growth into a senior role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping up to trial balance.
• Capture and process bank accounts, petty cash and supplier invoices.
• Process and match purchase orders, GRVs and supplier statements.
• Assist with GL reconciliations and month-end journals.
• Support stock control with weekly cycle counts and month-end stock takes.
• Filing and maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
• Assist with VAT and payroll data preparation under supervision.
• Assist with debtors and creditors reconciliations.
• General administrative support to the finance department.

Our client is a well-established South African packaging manufacturer based in Johannesburg, producing corrugated and packaging products for a range of industries. The company has a strong reputation for quality and reliability, with in-house manufacturing capabilities that reduce dependence on external suppliers. They are currently looking for a Junior Bookkeeper to join their finance team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping up to trial balance
• Capturing and processing of bank accounts, petty cash and supplier invoices
• Processing and matching of purchase orders, GRVs and supplier statements
• Assist with GL reconciliations and month-end journals

Desired Experience & Qualification

• 1-3 years' bookkeeping experience, ideally in a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment
• Basic understanding of stock and inventory processes advantageous
• Systems experience with Sage / ACCPAC and/or Pastel advantageous
• Good attention to detail and strong administrative and reconciliation skills
• Ability to work under supervision and take direction, with growth potential into a more senior role
• Matric essential; studying towards or holding a bookkeeping/accounting qualification advantageous
• Own transport and reliable; based within reasonable commuting distance of Johannesburg West preferred
