Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Junior Backend Developer to join the team in Benoni. You will work under experienced engineers to build robust server-side applications and APIs, gaining exposure to scalable systems and best practices in backend development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic understanding of JavaScript and Node.js.
• Familiarity with web application fundamentals and concepts.
• Understanding of database technologies (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and basic SQL/NoSQL queries.
• Exposure to version control systems like Git.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of server-side logic and APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following established standards.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Help troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
• Learn and implement new technologies and tools to enhance functionality and performance.
