Job summary

A Pretoria-based accounting team is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their growing practice. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build hands-on accounting experience in a professional setting.

Ideal candidates have an accounting or finance qualification and 1-3 years of experience. Proficiency with Pastel or Xero is advantageous, with a strong focus on accuracy, communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• 1-3 years' experience in an accounting environment (advantageous).
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Experience with accounting software (Pastel, Xero or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Processing of accounting transactions and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Assisting with reconciliations, including bank and ledger accounts.
• Preparing monthly accounting reports and supporting documentation.
• Assisting with VAT and other statutory submissions.
• Capturing invoices, payments, and journal entries.
• Supporting senior accountants with audits and year-end processes.
• General administrative and accounting duties as required.
