Job summary

Fouche & Co Recruitment represents a professional financial services and accounting practice seeking a Junior Accountant or Bookkeeper to join their Hillcrest team. You will own bookkeeping up to trial balance, manage tax submissions, and assist with management accounts.

Working with senior staff, you will capture monthly transactions, handle VAT reconciliations, payroll submissions via SARS eFiling and EasyFile, and assist with company tax returns under supervision.

Qualifications

• BCom or relevant accounting qualification completed or near completion.
• 1–2 years’ experience in an accounting firm or practice.
• Hands-on with Sage/Pastel and payroll and SARS filing.

Responsibilities

• Capture monthly bank statements and financial transactions accurately.
• Process records up to Trial Balance and assist with management accounts.
• Perform VAT reconciliations and monthly VAT201 submissions.
• Process payroll and PAYE, UIF, SDL submissions via EasyFile/eFiling.
• Assist with ITR12/ITR14 returns under supervision.

Our client is an established professional financial services and accounting practice dedicated to delivering comprehensive accounting, tax, and advisory solutions to a diverse client base.

We are seeking an ambitious Junior Accountant or competent Bookkeeper eager to advance their career. Working closely with senior staff, you will take ownership of full-function bookkeeping tasks up to trial balance, manage tax submissions, and assist with the preparation of management accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture monthly bank statements and financial transactions accurately.
• Process accounting records up to Trial Balance.
• Prepare basic Management Accounts and assist with financial reporting schedules.
• Perform VAT reconciliations and submit monthly VAT201 returns on SARS eFiling.
• Process payroll and handle monthly PAYE, UIF, and SDL submissions via EasyFile and eFiling.
• Assist under supervision with the calculation and submission of Personal Income Tax (ITR12) and Company Income Tax (ITR14) returns.

Requirements

• Completed BCom degree (or relevant tertiary accounting qualification), or currently in the final stages of completion.
• 1-2 years of relevant accounting firm or professional practice experience.
• Hands-on proficiency with Sage Online Accounting (or Pastel) and Sage Payroll.
• Practical experience using SARS eFiling and EasyFile.
• Working knowledge of Xero Accounting and CaseWare Cloud is highly advantageous.
