Job summary

The FAIS Ombud offers a 12-month Graduate Internship Programme to provide exposure and hands-on experience in a professional, target-driven environment. Successful candidates will gain practical skills through competency-based training and mentorship under experienced professionals.

Graduates will be placed in the Client Department and work closely with a dedicated mentor to develop expertise in the financial services industry.

Qualifications

• South African citizen with a valid South African Identity Document.
• Passion for public service and interest in the Financial Sector.
• Strong academic background.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, learn quickly, and commit to extra hours when necessary.
• Energetic, self-driven, and deadline-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Register new complaints received from the public.
• Assess whether complaints fall within jurisdiction in terms of the FAIS Act or the FSOS Act 37 of 2004.
• Assist and guide complainants on jurisdictional matters.
• Extract and summarise the essence of complaints from provided information, requesting additional details where necessary.
• Refer complaints outside FAIS or FSOS jurisdiction to relevant entities.
• Liaise with complainants and financial service providers to facilitate complaint resolution.
• Support the team in achieving targets while ensuring procedural fairness and efficiency.
