Job summary

Santam Client Solutions in Cape Town is seeking a BI Developer intern to join our growing BI team. This hybrid role blends business analysis and BI development, rotating through Sales, Servicing, and Retentions to deliver analytics and Power BI reports.

You will help transition from legacy Excel reporting to a modern, governed Power BI ecosystem, supporting day-to-day analytics and data questions while building high-quality dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, statistics, commerce, computer science, or a related field (preferred).
• Hybrid role requiring collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Experience with BI reporting and data analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary BI contact for assigned business units
• Support users with ad-hoc data queries and guide them in interpreting BI dashboards
• Clarify and document reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with business needs
• Identify gaps in reporting and opportunities to improve data-driven decision-making
• Support monthly reporting processes (commissions, management reporting, and performance analysis)
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports
• Build and optimise dataflows using Power Query (M) and DAX
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and alignment with BI governance standards
