Job summary

The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities in Pretoria invites applications for an Information Technology Technician. The post requires a Matric and an IT-related Diploma (NQF6), plus ITIL Foundations; MCSE/A+/N+ are advantageous.

A valid driving licence is preferred; minimum 2 years IT experience is expected. Responsibilities include providing network connectivity, maintaining server room infrastructure, ensuring security and privacy, and delivering IT service desk support.

Qualifications

• Matric and an IT-related Diploma (NQF6) or equivalent qualification.
• ITIL Foundations (certified) will be an advantage; MCSE/A+/N+ are beneficial.
• A valid driver’s licence is preferred but not essential for PWD candidates.

Responsibilities

• Provide network connectivity to all computer users and monitor WAN/LAN functions.
• Maintain server room infrastructure and ensure access control and cleanliness.
• Protect security and privacy of networks and systems, install OS patches and antivirus.
• Install, configure and troubleshoot computer hardware/software for usability.
• Offer IT service desk support via calls, emails and walk-ins, and track incidents.
• Manage backups, DR tests, and cloud/offsite storage for business continuity.
