Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of our Kimberley-based client, seeks a skilled Irrigation Systems Technician to install, maintain and repair irrigation networks across multiple agricultural sites. You will ensure efficient operation and optimized water usage to support crop health and yield.

The ideal candidate holds a technical qualification in Irrigation Technology or Agricultural Mechanics, has at least 3 years' hands-on experience, and is proficient with drip, sprinkler and center-pivot systems.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification or certification in Irrigation Technology, Agricultural Mechanics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of agricultural irrigation systems.
• Proficiency with various irrigation technologies (e.g., drip, sprinkler, center pivot).
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical controls, and water management principles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install irrigation systems including pipelines, sprinklers, drip emitters, and control panels.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on all irrigation equipment to prevent breakdowns.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in pumps, valves, controllers, and other irrigation components.
• Calibrate irrigation systems to ensure precise water application according to crop needs and environmental conditions.
• Operate and maintain specialized tools and machinery used in irrigation system servicing.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance.
• Provide technical support and training to farm staff on the proper use and basic maintenance of irrigation systems.
