Placements24 is seeking an Irrigation Technician to manage and maintain advanced irrigation systems across agricultural sites around Paarl in a hybrid role.

You will install, operate, maintain, and repair drip and sprinkler systems, ensuring efficient water delivery and compliance with best practices in water management. The role blends fieldwork with planning and reporting in occasional office settings.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Irrigation Technician to manage and maintain their advanced irrigation systems across various agricultural sites in and around Paarl. This hybrid role involves both hands-on fieldwork and occasional office-based planning and reporting. You will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of drip, sprinkler, and other irrigation systems to ensure optimal water delivery for crops. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of water management principles, irrigation technology, and a commitment to water conservation and efficiency in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and maintain various types of irrigation systems, including pumps, pipes, valves, and emitters.
• Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and malfunctions in the irrigation network.
• Program and monitor automated irrigation controllers and sensors.
• Conduct water audits and implement water-saving strategies.
• Ensure irrigation systems comply with environmental regulations and best practices for water management.
• Maintain detailed records of system performance, repairs, and water usage.

Requirements

• Experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably in an agricultural setting.
• Knowledge of different irrigation methods (drip, sprinkler, etc.) and related equipment.
• Familiarity with water management principles and conservation techniques.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics, electrical components, and control systems used in irrigation.
