Job summary

SMD Technologies Pty Ltd is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Senior Finance Manager and strengthen reporting and tax capability across the Group. The role offers training, with increasing responsibility over time, and collaboration with creditors and debtors teams.

The incumbent will help prepare management accounts, annual financial statements and liaise with auditors while working with cross-functional teams in a growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
• 2–4 years' experience in an accounting role (Accountant/Financial Accountant).
• Good working knowledge of SA tax (VAT, provisional tax, corporate income tax).
• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Exposure to month-end reporting or management accounts.
• Balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules across local and international entities.
• Prepare month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and working papers.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate significant movements.
• Assist with group reporting and financial consolidations.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
• Assist with VAT, provisional tax and corporate tax computations.
• Support audit files and liaise with external auditors.
