Job summary

Communicate Recruitment is seeking a Financial Accountant to take ownership of the full accounting function across multiple investment entities in Stellenbosch. You will manage month-end journals, loan schedules, and annual financial statements, while handling VAT and tax submissions, invoicing, and treasury tasks.

The role requires post-articles experience, strong Excel skills and the ability to coordinate with the CFO and external auditors on strategic financial initiatives.

Qualifications

• Completed articles with approximately 2 years' post-articles experience.
• Exposure to financial accounting, reporting, tax, audits, and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple entities and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
• Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting function across multiple investment entities.
• Prepare and post month-end journals.
• Maintain loan schedules and align with accounting records and agreements.
• Assist with preparation and review of annual financial statements.
• Review billing reports and ensure invoicing accuracy.
• Manage monthly invoicing processes and annual contract escalations.
• Monitor debtor accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Review rental invoicing and maintain supporting schedules.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns for local and international entities.
• Assist with tax calculations and tax return submissions.
• Prepare audit files and liaise with external auditors.
• Review and approve weekly payments; maintain loan schedules.
• Support Investments Finance Team with financial controls and operational finance needs.
• Partner with CFO and Financial Manager on strategic finance projects.
