Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Insurance Compliance Officer for our client in East London, Eastern Cape. You will monitor adherence to SA insurance laws, develop policies, conduct internal audits, and advise management on regulatory changes to strengthen controls.

This role requires 4+ years in compliance or auditing within insurance and a strong grasp of FAIS Act, Long-Term and Short-Term Insurance Acts. Hybrid work from our East London office is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in compliance, risk management, or auditing, preferably in insurance.
• In-depth knowledge of South African insurance legislation (FAIS, Long-Term, Short-Term).
• Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment and auditing principles.
• Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in compliance management software and MS Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High integrity and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Hybrid work arrangement based in East London office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor adherence to all relevant insurance laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify gaps.
• Advise management and staff on compliance matters and best practices.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and assess impact on the business.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees.
• Investigate potential compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors as required.
• Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities and reports.
• Promote a strong compliance culture throughout the organization.
