Insurance Administrator position available in Paarl.
An established insurance brokerage based in the heart of Paarl is looking for an experienced Short-term Insurance Administrator / Underwriter.
This is a hands-on short-term insurance administration and underwriting role, with primary responsibility for renewals, policy servicing, new business administration and underwriting functions across our short-term insurance portfolio.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients, insurers and the internal team to ensure policies are accurately administered, risks are appropriately assessed and client requests are handled professionally and within required service-level timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process short-term insurance renewals from preparation through to completion
- Handle day-to-day policy servicing, including amendments, endorsements, additions and cancellations
- Manage new business administration, including obtaining quotations, gathering required information and implementing new policies
- Perform day-to-day underwriting functions on new and existing short-term insurance policies
- Assess risk information and ensure that all relevant underwriting information is obtained and accurately recorded
- Prepare and obtain quotations and assist with the placement of new and existing business
- Liaise with insurers regarding underwriting requirements, terms, premiums, policy conditions and cover
- Capture and maintain accurate client, policy and risk information on relevant systems
- Ensure policy documentation is complete, accurate and compliant
- Proactively follow up on outstanding information, documentation and insurer requirements
- Respond to client queries and provide clear, professional feedback
- Assist clients with claims-related queries and support the claims process where required
- Maintain organised and accurate client and policy records
- Ensure administrative and underwriting processes are completed within required turnaround times and internal service standards
Qualifications & Regulatory Requirements:
- RE5 successfully completed – essential
- Must meet the applicable FAIS Fit and Proper requirements for appointment as a Representative under the company’s FSP licence
- Relevant Class of Business training for applicable short-term insurance product categories completed, or able to meet the applicable requirements within the prescribed regulatory framework
- Applicable product-specific training will be required
- Relevant short-term insurance qualification or recognised industry qualification will be advantageous
- Must meet the applicable experience and competency requirements for the financial services and product categories in which the individual will be appointed
- Previous experience as a short-term insurance administrator and/or underwriter within a brokerage or insurer environment is strongly preferred
- Previous experience working as a FAIS Representative will be advantageous
- Experience in Personal Lines and/or Commercial Lines insurance
- Practical experience with renewals, policy servicing, quotations, new business and underwriting
- Good understanding of policy wording, risk assessment, premiums, excess structures and underwriting requirements
- Experience using insurance administration and insurer systems
- Must demonstrate the required standards of honesty, integrity and good standing
