Placements24 is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer for our Bloemfontein client. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced control systems and instrumentation across industrial processes.

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical engineering foundation, process control knowledge, and hands-on PLC/DCS/SCADA experience. This position offers hybrid work and opportunities to work with cutting-edge automation technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, chemical engineering or related field.
4-6 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems in an industrial setting.
Proficiency with PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens) and SCADA/HMI development.
Experience with DCS configuration is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of process control, loop tuning, and SIS.
Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement instrumentation and control systems for industrial processes.
Configure and program PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
Select instrumentation based on process requirements and environment.
Develop control strategies and algorithms to optimize performance, safety, and efficiency.
Perform commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of control loops.
Collaborate with plant engineers and operators to identify needs and implement solutions.
Develop and maintain system documentation (P&IDs, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, C&E matrices).
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
Stay updated on advancements in automation technology, sensors and control systems.
