Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to create engaging online courses for professionals. This fully remote role in South Africa requires leading full course development lifecycles from needs analysis to evaluation, with a strong emphasis on adult learning and UX for effective digital learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of instructional design experience with a strong portfolio of digital learning projects.
• Proficiency in e-learning tools: Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate.
• Experience with LMS platforms (Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard).
• Solid understanding of adult learning principles and multimedia learning.

Responsibilities

• Analyze learning needs and design comprehensive instructional strategies for online courses.

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of online professional development courses, requires an experienced Instructional Designer to create engaging and effective digital learning experiences. This is a fully remote position, allowing the successful candidate to work from anywhere within South Africa . The Instructional Designer will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of course development, from needs analysis and learning objectives definition to content creation, implementation, and evaluation. This role demands creativity, a strong understanding of adult learning principles, and proficiency in utilizing various e-learning technologies. The goal is to develop high-quality, accessible, and impactful online courses that meet the evolving needs of professionals, supporting learners wherever they may be, including those in the Nelspruit region seeking remote opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze learning needs and design comprehensive instructional strategies for online courses.
• Develop clear learning objectives, assessment strategies, and engaging learning activities.
• Create multimedia-rich learning content, including e-learning modules, videos, interactive simulations, and assessments, using authoring tools.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
• Apply principles of adult learning, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and user experience (UX) design to create effective learning experiences.
• Manage course development projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and iterate on designs based on feedback and data analysis.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and e-learning.
• Provide guidance and support to SMEs and stakeholders on effective online learning design.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design, with a strong portfolio showcasing digital learning projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate).
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard.
• Strong understanding of learning theories, adult learning principles, and multimedia learning.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
• Creative and detail-oriented with a passion for creating engaging learning experiences.
• Must have reliable internet access and a dedicated home office setup.
