Job summary

Takealot Group is offering an 18-month internship in Cape Town for an aspiring Instructional Designer. You'll design and update interactive training, develop SOPs, and build dashboards to track learning metrics across Operations, Supply Chain, and IT teams.

You'll work with cross-functional teams, gather training requirements, and contribute to performance improvement initiatives while learning from seasoned professionals in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

Qualifications

  • N6 in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Educational Technology, HRD, or related field.
  • Familiarity with adult learning theories and workplace learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and update interactive training materials and SOPs for operational and corporate teams.
  • Collect, analyze, and present learning data to support decision-making and improvement.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, IT, Facilities, Health & Safety, and HR to gather training requirements.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations communicating learning metrics to stakeholders.
  • Support development, review, and maintenance of SOPs and process documentation across units.
  • Monitor KPIs and identify learning opportunities, skill gaps, and corrective actions.
  • Identify root causes of performance gaps and propose instructional solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Content Development: Assist in designing, developing, and updating interactive training materials, e-learning modules, digital learning assets, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational and corporate teams.
  • Data & Learning Analytics: Collect, analyse, interpret, and present operational and learning data to support decision-making, evaluate training effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, IT, Facilities, Health & Safety, and HR to gather training requirements and build targeted learning solutions.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Prepare clear reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate learning metrics, training insights, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Process Documentation: Support the development, review, and maintenance of SOPs, quick-reference guides, and process documentation across business units.
  • Performance Improvement & Needs Analysis: Monitor operational performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in identifying learning opportunities, skill gaps, and corrective training actions.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Participate in problem-solving initiatives by identifying root causes of performance/skill gaps, proposing practical instructional solutions, and supporting implementation.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications & Education:
  • N6 in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Educational Technology, Human Resource Development, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
Skills Required:
  • Computer Literacy: Strong command of computers and digital platforms.
  • Software Proficiency: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Exposure to eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Canva) or Learning Management Systems (LMS) is an advantage.
  • Communication: Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple instructional/training projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical Skills: Capability to collect, interpret, and present data effectively.
  • Educational & Socioeconomic Understanding: Familiarity with adult learning theories, workplace learning principles, and socioeconomic/public policy factors affecting education and workforce development.

This is an 18-month contract
