Job description

Hire Resolve’s client in Solar Manufacturing industry is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Installation Electrician to join their team in the Western Cape.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct solar PV electrical installations, including grid-tied inverter setups with seamless integration to the incoming supply.
  • Perform battery backup installations with integrated PV, either full or partial backup.
  • Manage the commissioning of solar systems, including setting up internet monitoring and installation of monitoring systems.
  • Conduct pre-emptive maintenance inspections to ensure optimal performance of solar systems.
  • Respond to callouts from clients for troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues.
  • Implement energy efficiency measures such as changing lights and appliances.
  • Visit project sites to assess electrical requirements and consumer separation.
  • Create accurate material lists for installation projects.
  • Lead and manage installation teams and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Conduct toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Guide and train installation staff, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
  • Perform monthly toolbox inspections and ensure accurate completion of job cards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager for efficient calendar planning.
  • Conduct pre-installation site visits to assess project requirements.
  • Check material lists pre-installation for accuracy.
  • Provide constructive feedback to management for process improvement.
  • Ensure installation works comply with electrical and occupational health and safety standards, issuing Certificates of Compliance (COCs).
  • Ensure installation teams are briefed effectively for each project.
  • Review and update material lists as needed.
  • Maintain and update project progress lists for tracking purposes.
  • Foster effective communication within installation teams via platforms like Microsoft Teams.

Requirements

  • NQF Level qualification for electricians.
  • Wireman's license.
  • Certified Installation Electrician.
  • COC testing and sign-off for both single-phase and three-phase systems (mandatory).
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the electrical field.
  • Proficiency in working with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical testing, measuring, and fault-finding.
  • Expertise in grid-tied inverters, battery inverters, and hybrid systems.
  • In-depth understanding of Solar PV systems and relevant regulations (SANS 10142-1, NRS 097 Part 2).
  • Familiarity with internet systems related to solar PV systems.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Resilience and agility in tackling challenges.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid Installation Electrician License for three-phase systems.
  • Forklift endorsement (beneficial).
  • Police clearance.
  • Working at heights certificate (can be obtained after appointment).
