Job summary

ADvTECH in Gauteng invites an English Teacher to inspire Grades 6 to 8 with a love of literature and language. You will plan engaging lessons aligned with the South African curriculum, foster reading, writing, and critical thinking, and create a positive classroom culture.

You will assess progress, provide feedback, collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, and communicate with parents. The role requires a recognised English teaching qualification and SA classroom experience,

Qualifications

• Qualified English teacher with degree and/or PGCE.
• Experience teaching English to Grades 6-8 in SA.
• Knowledge of SA National Curriculum and assessment.
• Strong communication and ability to engage students.
• Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans aligned with the SA curriculum for English language and literature.
• Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative methods.
• Facilitate class discussions, debates, and creative writing activities.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment addressing diverse learners.
• Provide regular feedback to help students set goals.
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects.
• Communicate with parents about student performance.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to improve teaching practices.
