Job summary

Shoprite in Brackenfell, South Africa, seeks an Insights Consultant to leverage data platforms for strategic retail insights. You will deliver analyses of sales and shopper trends, train stakeholders, and coordinate supplier accounts while building strong relationships across teams.

You will communicate findings through structured storytelling, support adoption of the insights tools, and contribute to case studies demonstrating value. A background in analytics within FMCG is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or a related field / or working towards– (essential).
  • +1 years' experience in a similar capacity or key account management in analytics or SaaS context – (essential)
  • Experience with large data sets, analytics platforms to derive insights and present them.
  • Well-packaged, visually appealing presentations of insights.
  • Proven FMCG/retail insights experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Execute analyses on sales, shopper, and category trends; identify drivers from reports and dashboards.
  • Translate findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Create stakeholder presentations; deliver insights with storytelling and visuals.
  • Support internal users and suppliers to access and use the insights platform.
  • Coordinate stakeholder requirements and deliver against the workplan; escalate when needed.
  • Train users on platform navigation and report interpretation.
  • Maintain CRM logs and documentation; log incidents and manage progress.

Job description

The purpose of the role is to leverage Shoprite's rich customer and transactional retail data assets to enable strategic insights to Shoprite's internal and external stakeholders. The role includes gathering insights using a software-as-a-service (SaaS) insights platform, training stakeholders how to use the platform, and effectively communicating findings and trends using various mediums. This role provides coordination support to Insights Consultants, whilst coordinating small–to-mid sized supplier accounts, maintaining positive relationships with key supplier representatives, retaining the accounts and supporting stakeholders' decision‑making processes using the insights platform. The role maintains excellent relationships with stakeholders, pursues the highest levels of support and service, is an effective communicator, and is a strong operational coordinator.

What you'll do
Insight Delivery & Analysis

Execute analyses on sales, shopper, and category trends; identify performance drivers using standard reports and dashboards.

Interpret findings and translate observations into clear, actionable insights and recommendations (appropriate to role level).

Create and/or contribute to stakeholder presentations; deliver insights using structured storytelling and visual communication.

Stakeholder, Account & Service Support

Support internal users and suppliers to access and use the insights platform effectively; respond to queries within agreed timeframes.

Coordinate stakeholder requirements and deliver against the workplan; escalation issues requiring senior intervention.

Build and maintain relationships across key contacts, drive account retention through dependable service.

Platform Enablement, Training & Adoption

Deliver onboarding and training on platform navigation, features, and report interpretation using approved materials.

Reinforce data definitions and reporting standards, track training attendance and adoption indicators.

Monitor usage metrics; encourage initial adoption and re‑activate dormant users (as applicable to role level).

Category Reviews, Value Tracking & Case Studies

Support and/or lead category reviews for assigned suppliers to the expected standard; align outputs to category objectives.

Maintain a value tracker for insight outputs, track implementation status with stakeholders where reasonably possible.

Produce concise case studies that demonstrate impact and business value.

Reporting, Administration & Ways of Working

Maintain accurate CRM / client logs and documentation (SOPs, FAQs, one‑pagers, presentations) in line with standards.

Operate incident / case management: log incidents, allocate, monitor progress, and elevate when required.

Deliver tasks/projects on time and to quality standards; participate in team initiatives and cross‑functional collaboration.

Insights Tools & Data (REX / IDM)

Tools used: REX, IDM and associated dashboards/reports; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Data stewardship: maintain accuracy, apply definitions consistently, and follow ethical research/data handling practices.

What you'll bring
  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or a related field / or working towards– (essential).
  • +1 years' experience in a similar capacity or role, including key account management roles in an analytics or SaaS context – (essential)
  • Experience working with large data sets, using analytics / insights platforms to explore the data, and presenting it in a way that delivers actionable insights and derives value – (essential).
  • Well-versed in communicating business recommendations and insights into well-packaged and visually appealing presentations – (essential).
  • Proven success working with FMCG brands, category, shopper or retail insights to shape and inform business decision-making – (highly beneficial).
  • Experience in delivering insights in either a large retail organisation or within a supplier business context – (highly beneficial).
  • Experience cross- and upselling solutions – (highly beneficial).
  • Proficient in using analytics (highly desired) or SaaS platforms - (desired).
  • Experience with retailer specific data (POS, Retailer Rewards Card data etc.) – (desired).
  • Experience with email marketing platforms – (desired).
