Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Specialist to join our George-based team. The role focuses on developing and enforcing security policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance across IT infrastructure.

The successful candidate will design and maintain security controls, implement awareness training, and respond to incidents to protect sensitive information in the Western Cape region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an information security role.
• In-depth knowledge of network security, endpoint security, cryptography, and access control mechanisms.
• Experience with security frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIST.
• Strong understanding of threat landscape and incident response methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees to foster a security-conscious culture.
• Respond to and manage security incidents, including investigating breaches, mitigating threats, and documenting actions taken.
• Collaborate with IT operations to ensure the secure configuration and maintenance of servers, networks, and endpoints.
• Stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities and proactively recommend and implement protective measures.
