About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Information Security Engineer to join their dynamic team in Mossel Bay. This role focuses on the practical implementation, management, and continuous improvement of security technologies and infrastructure designed to protect the organization's digital assets. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining various security solutions, responding to security threats, and ensuring the resilience of our IT environment. This is a hands-on technical role for an individual passionate about cybersecurity and dedicated to building secure systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and endpoint security.
• Monitor security systems for suspicious activity, investigate security alerts, and perform incident response activities.
• Conduct regular security configuration reviews and patch management for security devices.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams, operational procedures, and incident response plans.
• Collaborate with IT operations teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into system deployments and maintenance.
• Evaluate and recommend new security technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or CEH are highly valued.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in information security engineering, network security, or a similar technical role.
• Hands-on experience with firewall management, IDS/IPS systems, and SIEM solutions.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and common security vulnerabilities.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks is a plus.
