Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Pump Systems Technician for on-site work in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will install, maintain, repair, and service a range of industrial pumps and associated systems in mining, manufacturing, and water treatment environments.

The role requires solid mechanical and electrical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and a proactive safety mindset to keep fluid-transfer equipment operating reliably and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with industrial pump installation and maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pump overhauls and bearing changes.
• Proficiency in diagnosing electrical control systems and motor issues related to pumps.
• Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps.
• Familiarity with vibration analysis and condition monitoring is a plus.
• Valid driver's license.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
• Based in or able to reliably commute to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
• Technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install new industrial pump systems, including motors, VSDs and control panels, ensuring correct alignment and integration.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on pump systems, checking seals, bearings, lubrication, and electrical connections.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in pumps, motors, and associated pipework.
• Carry out repairs and overhauls of centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps.
• Read and interpret pump curves, technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Perform vibration analysis and condition monitoring to predict and prevent failures.
• Ensure safety standards and environmental regulations are followed on-site.
• Maintain detailed service logs and records of maintenance and repair activities.
• Provide technical advice and support to clients on pump system optimization and maintenance best practices.
• Manage spare parts inventory and report on stock levels for pumps and related components.
• Potential travel to client sites within KwaZulu-Natal for installations and urgent repairs.
