Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Pump Maintenance Specialist for a major facility in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and overhauling centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps to maximise uptime and safety.

The candidate will diagnose complex faults, perform alignments, interpret drawings, and manage spare parts while adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations. Shifts and standby may be required.

Qualifications

• Significant experience maintaining and repairing industrial pumps in manufacturing/processing environments.
• Knowledge of centrifugal, positive displacement, vertical turbine pumps and their principles.
• Able to read/me interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with pump sealing technologies and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on pumps and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical pump issues, including seals, bearings, cavitation.
• Conduct performance testing and alignment checks for efficiency.
• Read P&ID’s and manuals to guide maintenance activities.
• Manage spare parts inventory for pumps and components.
• Overhaul and rebuild pumps meeting specs and tolerances.
• Install new pumps and piping, ensure proper setup and function.
• Document maintenance activities and performance data.

About the Role

Our client, a major industrial processing facility in Rustenburg, North West , is actively searching for a highly competent Industrial Pump Maintenance Specialist. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of all industrial pumping systems within the facility. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a wide array of industrial pumps, including centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible types. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of pump mechanics, hydraulics, and associated control systems. Your expertise will directly impact production output and operational safety. You will be expected to perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnose complex mechanical failures, and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on all types of industrial pumps and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues related to pump systems, including seal failures, bearing problems, and cavitation.
• Conduct performance testing and alignment checks on pumps to ensure optimal efficiency.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&ID's, and equipment manuals for maintenance and repair activities.
• Manage spare parts inventory for pumps and related components.
• Overhaul and rebuild pumps, ensuring all specifications and tolerances are met.
• Install new pumps and associated piping, ensuring correct setup and function.
• Identify potential equipment failures and recommend proactive maintenance strategies.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.
• Document all maintenance activities, repair logs, and performance data accurately.

Requirements

• Significant experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial pumps within a manufacturing or processing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of various pump types (centrifugal, positive displacement, vertical turbine, etc.) and their operational principles.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with pump sealing technologies (e.g., mechanical seals, packing).
• A strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and best practices.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, Millwright) is highly advantageous.
• A valid driver's license.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Willingness to work shifts and be on standby for emergency repairs in the Rustenburg area.
