Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for an on-site role in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will contribute to design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for large-scale industrial machinery, working within a collaborative engineering team.

Responsibilities include CAD-based design, detailed drawings and BOMs, and validation/testing of prototypes. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and hands-on problem solving in a dynamic industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 1–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Basic understanding of engineering analysis principles (stress/thermal).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for industrial machinery using CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
• Perform calculations for stress, strain, and thermal analysis to ensure design integrity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to implement designs efficiently.
• Conduct testing and validation of prototypes and existing equipment, documenting findings.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions for machinery.
• Research and recommend improvements to existing designs and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure designs comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Assist in specification and selection of mechanical components and materials.
• Participate in project planning and meet project deadlines.
