Placements24 in South Africa seeks an experienced Industrial Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair automated production systems at a Tembisa facility. You will diagnose mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure reliability of pumps, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

The role requires reading blueprints, welding/cutting skills, and a strong safety mindset. A valid driver’s license and relevant trade certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Industrial Mechanic, Millwright, or similar in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Able to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Welding, cutting and fabrication skills are advantageous.
• Familiar with diagnostic tools for mechanical troubleshooting.
• Commitment to workplace safety and safety protocols.
• Good communication, able to work independently or in a team.
• Valid driver's license; reliable for Gauteng location.
• Relevant trade certification preferred (NQF 3/4).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on a variety of industrial machinery, including automated production lines, robotic arms, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions.
• Dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex mechanical equipment, ensuring all parts are correctly installed and functional.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Lubricate and service machinery as per manufacturer specifications and established maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot issues related to gears, bearings, belts, chains, and other mechanical components.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to assess the condition of machinery.
• Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to identify potential equipment improvements and maintenance strategies.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies while working in the Gauteng facility.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities performed on equipment.
