About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding manufacturing firm located in Bloemfontein, Free State , is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer. This role focuses on identifying and implementing operational improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve workflow efficiency. The successful candidate will be adept at analyzing processes, utilizing data to drive decisions, and collaborating with operational teams to implement changes effectively. Key Responsibilities

Analyze current operational processes, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and quality. Develop and implement process improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes of issues. Design and implement new workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Collaborate with production supervisors and team members to ensure successful implementation of changes. Develop and maintain performance metrics to track the effectiveness of implemented improvements. Conduct time studies and workflow analyses to optimize resource utilization. Assist in the development and training of production staff on new processes and best practices. Contribute to capacity planning and production scheduling efforts. Ensure that all implemented solutions align with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline. 2-5 years of experience in an industrial engineering or operations improvement role. Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping). Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. Enthusiasm for process improvement and operational excellence. Experience with process mapping software is a plus.
