Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Disinfection Technician in Durban to apply advanced disinfection techniques across industrial facilities. The role demands strict adherence to safety protocols, chemical handling, and effective operation of specialized equipment such as foggers, electrostatic sprayers, and UV-C systems.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in industrial cleaning/disinfection, knowledge of microbiology, and the ability to work independently or in teams, including

Qualifications

• Proven experience in industrial cleaning, sanitation, or disinfection roles.
• Experience in manufacturing, food processing, or healthcare environments is desirable.
• Certification or training in hazardous materials handling (e.g., HazCom) and chemical safety.
• Ability to operate specialized industrial cleaning and disinfection equipment.
• Strong understanding of microbiology and disinfection/sterilization principles.
• Excellent knowledge of safety protocols, PPE usage, and regulatory compliance in industrial settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English and good communication skills for reporting in Durban; willing to work flexible hours including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized disinfection and sanitization in industrial settings (floors, lines, clean rooms).
• Operate and maintain disinfection equipment (foggers, electrostatic sprayers, UV-C).
• Prepare and apply approved chemical disinfectants per safety guidelines.
• Conduct pre- and post-disinfection assessments and verify treatment efficacy.
• Follow HSE policies and use PPE correctly.
• Maintain logs of chemicals used, areas treated, and duration.
• Collaborate with plant management to minimize production disruption.
• Safely handle, store and dispose of chemicals and waste per regulations.
• Stay updated on disinfection technology and best practices.
