Placements24 is seeking an in-house Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support for its operations in Rustenburg. You will handle contracts, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and practical business-focused advice, with remote support across the enterprise.

The role requires a qualified attorney with solid corporate and contract law knowledge, ideally with mining sector exposure, and the ability to operate autonomously within a remote team.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with at least 6 years post-qualification experience, preferably with in-house or mining sector exposure.
• Solid understanding of corporate law, contract law and regulatory compliance in South Africa.
• Experience with environmental law and mining-specific legislation is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a remote team, showing proactivity and sound judgment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to operations and supply chain.
• Advise on compliance with mining regulations, environmental laws, and industry legislation.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes, including arbitration and litigation if necessary.
• Conduct legal due diligence for potential investments and partnerships.
