You will advise on IP, data privacy, software licensing, and emerging technologies, drafting and negotiating complex tech contracts while providing practical legal guidance in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 5+ years of technology law and IP focus.
• Experience in software licensing, data privacy (POPIA/GDPR), and IP protection.
• Ability to draft and negotiate complex technology-related contracts.

Responsibilities

• Advise on IP matters including protection and enforcement.
• Ensure data privacy compliance and manage data processing agreements.
• Draft, review, and negotiate software licenses, SaaS, and tech procurement.
• Support product development by assessing legal risks of new technologies.
• Manage IP portfolios and prosecute IP rights globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright protection and enforcement.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as POPIA and GDPR, managing data processing agreements.
• Draft, review, and negotiate software licensing agreements, SaaS contracts, and technology procurement agreements.
• Provide legal support for product development, including assessing legal risks associated with new technologies and features.
• Assist in managing intellectual property portfolios and prosecuting IP rights globally.
• Stay abreast of legal developments in technology, data privacy, and e-commerce, and advise the business accordingly.
