Job summary

Dante Personnel Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is assisting a Durban-based client in finding an Imports Clerk to join their dynamic team.

Key duties include handling receipt and validation of shipping documents, data capture in Navis, invoicing landside charges, reconciling payments and providing excellent client support in a busy logistics environment. You will act as a main contact for queries and ensure timely communication with customers.

Qualifications

• Logistics/shipping experience or maritime exposure required.
• Strong computer literacy with MS Word and Excel; experience with Navis and Outlook preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Counter duties: receipts and validation of original bills and shipping documents.
• Attach and file release documents; ensure proper filing and record-keeping.
• Act as main contact for clients; provide updates and answer queries.
• Notify customers of deadlines and expedite releases for Direct Delivery, IMDG, Reefer shipments.
• Reconcile payments and issue credit notes with authorization; process landside charges invoices.
• Daily monitoring of Navis systems and related screens to avoid agency evaluations.
• Capture data accurately into Navis; assist during busy periods and staff absences.
• Support other CSD IMP functions as required.

My Client based in Durban is seeking an Imports Clerk to be apart of their dynamic team.

Minimum requirements:

• Logistic/shipping Qualification and/or Maritime experience
• Strong Computer and communication skills (MS Word, Excel, Navis, Outlook)
• Duties:
• Counter Duties, attending to receipt of documents.
• Validating Original Bill/ Receive & accurately attend to the validation of original bills and shipping documents.
• Attach & file release documents/Ensure proper filing & record-keeping of documentation.
• Act as a point of contact for clients, assisting with queries and providing updates.
• Notify customers of overstay deadlines and surrender documents prior vessel ETB.
• Identify and inform customers to expedite release of Direct Delivery, IMDG, and Reefer shipments.
• Ensure all emails are acknowledged and responded to daily.
• Reconcile payments and issue credit notes (with authorization).
• Handle invoicing of landside charges and process JNB turn-ins as requested.
• Daily checking of SOL+ screens to avoid Agency Evaluations
• Process carrier haulage instructions efficiently.
• Capture data accurately into Navis systems.
• Assist in resolving queries and provide support during busy periods or staff absences.
• Support other CSD IMP functions as required.
