Placements24 is hiring a Telecoms Network Planner in Soweto, Gauteng to drive long-term network expansion and capacity planning for telecom services. You will forecast demand, analyze performance, and collaborate with engineering to translate business needs into concrete network plans.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in telecom planning, strong knowledge of fiber, wireless, IP, and experience with planning tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications network planning, design, or operations.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, technologies (fiber optics, wireless, IP) and planning principles.
• Proficiency in using network planning tools and simulation software is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Good understanding of financial concepts related to network investment and ROI.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term network expansion and capacity plans for telecom services (mobile, broadband).
• Analyze current network performance and usage trends to forecast capacity requirements.
• Evaluate new technologies and their impact on network architecture and capacity.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to translate requirements into network plans.
• Identify constraints and propose capacity upgrades or reconfigurations.
• Create detailed network design documents and proposals for expansion projects.
• Work with finance to develop cost estimates and budgets for planned investments.
• Research industry trends to inform planning decisions.
• Ensure plans align with regulatory requirements and strategic goals.
• Present plans and recommendations to management.
