Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our Paarl team in a hybrid role. You will design and review structural systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and constructability while collaborating with architects and contractors.

You will model and analyze steel, concrete, and timber elements, prepare drawings and calculations, and participate in site visits to verify conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in structural design.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, and Prokon.
• Knowledge of timber and steel design advantageous; strong codes awareness.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for new buildings and renovations, including steel, concrete, and timber structures.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications using engineering software.
• Coordinate structural designs with architectural plans and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions and monitor construction for design compliance.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs from contractors.
• Ensure designs meet building codes, safety regulations, and client requirements.
