Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in insurance underwriting with a significant focus on liability lines of business.
• In-depth knowledge of liability insurance products and their associated risks.
• Strong analytical and financial assessment skills for interpreting complex information.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for broker and client engagement.
• CIP or AIU designations are highly preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with teams in Mahikeng and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex liability insurance applications, including general liability, professional indemnity, and directors & officers liability.
• Analyze risk exposures, financial data, and operational factors to determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, and pricing.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key clients, providing expert underwriting support.
• Monitor the performance of the liability portfolio, identifying trends and recommending adjustments to strategy.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and best practices.
• Mentor and guide junior underwriters, sharing expertise and promoting best practices.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal underwriting standards.
